tyrosinase inhibition.

tyrosinase is the enzyme that drives melanin production. inhibiting it visibly fades dark spots and evens tone over weeks of use.

02

biology

what it is

melanin is the pigment that gives skin and hair their color. it is manufactured in melanocytes via a multi-step pathway, and tyrosinase is the rate-limiting enzyme in that pathway. when melanocytes overproduce melanin in response to sun, hormones, or inflammation, the result is the localized dark spots most consumers call hyperpigmentation.

inhibiting tyrosinase slows melanin synthesis without bleaching existing pigment. visible improvement happens as the existing surface melanin sloughs off naturally and is no longer being replaced at the same rate.

drip's discovery pipeline targets sequences that bind tyrosinase with cosmetic-tier specificity. the goal is enough activity to shift the steady state without enough activity to disrupt baseline pigmentation in adjacent skin.
